Kouko is my final assignment in the Design Institute. I concepted the idea together with a friend and refined thematics after initial discussions. I made a treatment and based on that, a storyboard. This animatic is basically that storyboard with timings and camera movements. I had assistance on the dialogue and audio design from fellow media content design students.
The animatic touches on subjects like overgenerational trauma and it’s reprecussions. Kouko is a Finnish mythology entity that was made up to scare children. Kouko is quite long video, but cutting anything away would take away moments from the characters or the mood of the cottage. Underneath is treatment and first version of the storyboard.
Then the storyboard was configured in the TVPaint program, which was the main program used in the animatic. Screenshots of the storyboard from start to finish in the next segment.
